The city with the most aggressive drivers has been a longstanding debate but finally the issue is settled thanks to a new study by fuel-savings app GasBuddy, USA Today reported. GasBuddy also picked nine other city to create their list of the top 10 cities with the most aggressive drivers.
According to the report, which looked at the driving skills of the 30 most populated metropolitan areas, the city with the most aggressive drivers is Los Angeles.
The final conclusion was made after GasBuddy analyzed the data it had gathered from a feature designed to help app users preserve fuel through tracking their driving habits. Factors such as the frequency of speeding, hard braking and swift acceleration to gauge aggressiveness were all taken into account for the survey.
This is not the first time L.A. drivers have been given flack for their skills, or lack thereof. A 2017 report that ranked 200 cities from best to worst according to its drivers, listed the City of Angels at 193rd, The Los Angeles Times reported. In 2016, L.A. was ranked 195 out of 200 cities in the same annual survey, KCAL9 noted.
"LA’s a crazy town to live in in general with the driving, but there’s something about Glendale where they just like to drive like nuts," remarked Michael Laferla, a Glendale resident.
Another resident, Rebekah Hong, said the findings were an accurate reflection of L.A. drivers.
"They don’t really follow signs," Hong said. "Yeah, like there will be no-left-turn signs but they’ll still make a left turn. They cut off people."
So, how does L.A. fare against other cities in the latest GasBuddy survey? According to USA Today, Philadelphia came in a close second, followed by Sacramento, Calif., Atlanta and San Francisco. Rounding off the top 10 list is San Diego, Orlando, Fla., Detroit, Austin, Texas and Las Vegas.
