The left holds Republicans, conservatives, and Christians to extremely high standards. God may indeed be forgiving, but Marx is a relentless persecutor.
For those targeted in the left’s sight — whoops, bad illustration the left wants nothing to do with guns — let’s make it for those subject to scrutiny under the left’s electron microscope the examination is minute, loud, and conducted in public.
There is no forgiveness. No redemption. No statute of limitations on transgressions. No consistent standards for evidence. And no defense is allowed. Witches had an easier time of it in Salem. Treatment for proscribed classes is even worse if the controversy is removed from the court of public opinion and lands in a court of law.
Typically, even if a Republican, conservative or Christian is found innocent he has been bankrupted by legal fees. For the left the process is the punishment.
That’s why the current controversy involving every Virginia public official elected statewide is so interesting. Gov. Ralph ‘Moonwalk’ Northam, Lt. Gov. Justin ‘MeToo’ Fairfax and Attorney General Mark ‘Rapper’ Herring are all Democrats elected in the state’s 2017 off-year repudiation of President Trump. Government employees, leftists, college communists, minorities, and various Swampistas united in a single surge of anger to elect all three and almost turn the House and Senate over to Democrats.
Virginia’s march toward Venezuela was proceeding smoothly until Northam’s yearbook page surfaced with a photo of one man in blackface and the other wearing a Klan hood and queen-sized sheet.
At first Northam apologized for the photo. Then he called a news conference scripted by Monty Python. There the governor denied being in the blackface yearbook photo, but admitted to wearing blackface in a ‘Moonwalk’ contest that he claims to have won. The groovy gov appeared to be getting ready to demonstrate his Moonwalk moves when his appalled wife grabbed him.
National, state, and local Democrats called for Northam to resign. AG Herring also demanded Northam take his dance moves back into private life. Democrats liked the idea of Northam resigning for a racial infraction so Fairfax, the first black man ever elected to the Lt. Governor’s office, could take his place.
Fairfax was practically measuring the drapes in Northam’s office when a California college professor accused him of sexually assaulting her at the DNC national convention in 2004. This sordid account had the exact time, exact location, exact description, and witnesses asserted they had been informed by the victim the next day.
That was certainly a complication for the left, but even if Fairfax was forced out of office there was still Herring. Then the other shoe dropped.
Herring admitted to a Shinola touchup in the ‘80s, the same decade where Northam was getting in touch with his inner Roots. The AG wasn’t Moonwalking, he went to his party impersonating a rapper. Herring wasn’t willing to follow the advice he gave Northam and resign. Instead he’s going to spend some quiet time hoping it all blows over.
If the left applied the same standards to their own that they apply to their opponents, all three officeholders would be “spending more time with the family.” Yet if that happened the new governor would be Speaker of the House Kirk Cox who is one of the dreaded Republicans.
What do you predict will happen? With the left that ‘talks the talk’ man up and ‘walk the walk’? Unlikely in our opinion. Democrats are currently laying low and hoping the controversy blows over. Maybe the president will tweet something that attracts the attention of an Opposition Media eager to move on.
But that’s fine, too. Because there’s an election in November 2019 and we’re sure the GOP will make it a point to tell voters about the character of the three men leading the Democrat party.
