A Democratic candidate for president denounced an endorsement she received from David Duke, a former grand wizard of the Ku Klux Klan.

Duke, whose Twitter account is filled with anti-Israel messages, has tweeted his support of Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, D-Hawaii, several times in recent days. His Twitter header photo includes the words, "Tulsi Gabbard For President. Finally a candidate who will actually put America first rather than Israel first!"

Gabbard told The Hill on Tuesday she is no fan of Duke and what he believes.

"I have strongly denounced David Duke's hateful views and his so-called 'support' multiple times in the past, and reject his support," Gabbard said.

"Publicizing Duke's so-called 'endorsement' is meant to distract from my message: that I will end regime-change wars, work to end the new cold war, and take us away from the precipice of a nuclear war, which is a greater danger now than ever before."

Duke tweeted Monday: "Tulsi Gabbard in 2020. Finally a candidate for President who will really put America First?"

He posted this on the same day: "Tulsi Gabbard is currently the only presidential candidate who doesn't want to send White children off to die for Israel."

Over the weekend, NBC News reported the Russian propaganda machine also supports Gabbard.
